LIMINAL is a series of five Polaroid portraits by photographer Mark Short, exploring identity in a state of suspension. Shot in studio and printed with gentle tonal depth, these images hover between presence and disappearance — figures held in the quiet tension of being seen.
The work resists spectacle. Instead, it invites closeness: the blur of the lens, the bloom of the flash, the grain of the film forming a skin of atmosphere. These are portraits not of subjects, but of states — moments where selfhood feels fluid, tender, and briefly unguarded.
