Archival pigment print
Edition of 25 per size

Runge, a key figure in early German Romanticism, intended these designs for a monumental series of murals in a chapel, but they were ultimately realized as these elaborate prints. The works are filled with symbolic forms based on the natural world and a mystical, pantheistic philosophy to express ideas about the harmony of the universe.

In Night, the iconography centers on the symbolism of flowers. It depicts ethereal figures (putti) and angels above a central plant that rises toward a burst of light at the top. Two owls are visible at the bottom of the detailed border. The word "NACHT" (Night) is inscribed near the bottom center.

After Hours Art Editions publishes limited-edition prints for collectors drawn to mood, intimacy, and the charged space between art and desire.
